Steel was thought to be dead. Has. Not anymore: In 2092 the most gigantic project in interplanetary travel has proven itself to a fortune to US steel. A elevator throughout the orbit and into space needs new types of steel alloys. Extreme colds and heats have to be withstood by the material. The Alloy Conduction Tester is a project between Pennsylvanias largest industry of broadcasting and telecommunications and the former steel industry. It’s mission is to develop highly conductive alloys. The plan is to send signals throughout the elevators infrastructure, turning it into the largest antenna ever made.
